Chicken chakhokhbili

Ingredients

tomatoes (volume juice) 500 g
onion 4 things.
cilantro, basil 1 bundle
pepper, hop-suneli, wine vinegar, salt. taste

Cooking method

  • Cut the chicken into pieces and put in a saucepan, simmer under a closed lid over low heat in its own fat and juice. When the juice begins to evaporate, add the butter and finely chopped onions. Fry the chicken and onions, stirring occasionally, until the meat is browned. Then pour 1 cup of boiled water into a saucepan and put the tomatoes. Tomatoes must first be peeled and chopped. Then simmer over low heat until the chicken is tender. Add chopped spicy herbs, red pepper, salt, dry spices (hops-suneli, utskho-suneli, coriander) to your liking and at your discretion. I definitely add 1-2 tsp. wine vinegar, it gives a special pungency and piquancy to the dish.
  • Chakhokhbili can be cooked not only from chicken, but also from beef, pork and lamb. With other types of meat, garlic is usually added at the end of cooking.

Note

Chakhokhbili can be served with a side dish: boiled rice or potatoes. I like to eat like this, dipping a delicious gravy with bread.
