Cabbage schnitzel

Ingredients

Cabbage 1 forks
Spices to taste
Breadcrumbs
Vegetable oil for frying
salt

Cooking method

  • Remove the stalk from the cabbage. In a saucepan, bring the water to a boil, salt, add your favorite spices, put the cabbage and cook for 10-15 minutes, then turn the cabbage and continue cooking for about the same time. Take out the cabbage, remove the cooked leaves, and if there are any raw leaves, continue cooking.
  • Cut off the thickening from the leaves, beat off slightly. I usually make schnitzel from two leaves. One is too large, the other is smaller or substandard. I wrap a small one in a larger sheet. Then I roll the schnitzel with flour, then dip it in a cup of cabbage broth and then in breadcrumbs. Fry in vegetable oil over low heat until golden brown.
  • I intentionally didn't put anything next to the schnitzels. They are very good on their own, hot and hot, juicy, tasty!

And our cabbage is inexpensive. I might not have been going to make schnitzels for another hundred years if I didn’t go to the market after work today and saw loose cabbage forks. This, one might say, is a rarity at such a time of the year and the most so for schnitzels.
