The whistle indicates that the water inside has heated up, boiled and, accordingly, the milk is also very hot and ready to fill the cereal. I never put cereals in cold milk.
I put the butter when the porridge has already spread, so I put a piece so that it slowly dissolves and goes into the porridge.
It takes a little time, but the taste is better.
