Choosing an electric heater for your home

Choosing an electric heater for your homeHousehold electric heaters are irreplaceable helpers when it is necessary to raise the air temperature to a comfortable temperature. We use them most often in autumn and spring, because central heating does not work as flexibly as we would like. The HVAC market offers us the following types of heaters: fan heaters, oil heaters, electric convectors and infrared heaters.

Fan heaters

These mostly compact devices can easily move from one place to another and quickly warm up the room. Their design is simple: as a rule, it is a plastic case, which contains a fan and an incandescent spiral. After turning on the device, the spiral heats up, and the fan begins to drive air through it. If the fan heater is equipped with a thermostat, it will turn itself off and on to maintain the heating level set by the user.

The main advantage of fan heaters is the high speed of air heating and its uniform distribution. Thanks to their simple design, they are quite accessible to the general population. The disadvantages include the noise that the fan makes. Although it is not loud, it can interfere with a quiet rest. The second drawback is the combustion of oxygen by the incandescent coil. And if dust gets on it, then the room will be filled with an unpleasant smell.

Oil radiators

Unlike fan heaters, oil heaters are quite heavy. Outwardly, they resemble a multi-section heating battery, and therefore are called “oil radiators” in everyday life. Inside the massive body there is oil and heating element (tubular electric heater). There is a control panel outside. Thanks to the built-in thermostat, the oil cooler works in automatic mode. Most heaters are equipped with casters for easy movement from one room to another.

Oil radiators practically do not burn oxygen, and due to their high reliability, they can operate continuously for a long period. When the appliance is turned on, it starts producing heat in about 20-30 minutes. The reason lies in the large volume of oil in the radiator.

Choosing an electric heater for your homeElectric convector

The electric convector is a flat rectangular metal device. It can be wall-mounted or mounted on a stand with castors. Inside the casing there is a heating element with aluminum fins. The switched on device heats up the air, which, rising upwards, draws in a new portion of cold air from below. This heating method is called convection heating. The higher the body walls, the better the traction.

There are many advantages of electric convectors. They are quiet, fireproof and highly efficient. The air is heated quickly and evenly, and the built-in thermostat fully automates the work. There are also "advanced" models with the possibility of programming, remote control, etc.

Infrared heaters

These devices work on the basis of infrared radiation. It heats objects, and from them the air is already heated. Therefore, infrared heaters are sometimes called a small home sun. Thanks to this principle of operation, they do not waste extra energy on heating the air.

Infrared heaters are more economical than conventional air heaters. They can even be used for zone heating. They are mobile and safe. The characteristic of IR devices is that they must be positioned high enough for maximum efficiency. For this reason, our models are either ceiling or wall mounted, or mounted on a tripod.
