Carol Bartz (former president and CEO of Yahoo!)
In 2010, 15 Fortune 500 companies were CEOs. One of these powerful women in business was Carol Bartz, President and CEO of Yahoo!, which took over as CEO a year earlier in 2009. At the time Bartz took over, the company's website was the third most visited and the company's market share steadily declined.
She faced a very difficult task: she needed to change the position of the company for the better. And she successfully dealt with this by taking a series of actions that allowed the company to stay “afloat” and improve its core business. Despite some doubts that Bartz would not be able to improve the situation around the company, many hoped that she would not disappoint, because before that she worked as CEO of AutoDesk.
Anita Roddick (Founder of the "Body Shop" company)
Many successful women in business have also been innovative entrepreneurs. One such woman is Anita Roddick, founder of the Body Shop cosmetics company. Roddick founded her company in 1991 in England, and a few years later, her brainchild became the world's second largest cosmetic franchise.
But Body Shop is not only a successful business venture, it is also a revolutionary way of doing business. It is based on the principles of ethical consumerism and fair trade, and these principles have made a significant contribution to the company's image. Roddick died in 2007.
Linda Solomon (Deloitte Consulting)
An example of an outstanding woman can be found in the consulting business. An example is Linda Solomon, Lead Consultant at Deloitte Consulting, who had a dizzying career in the consulting industry that began in 1990.
