 Today it is a common thing to take a child to a kindergarten or school in the morning and pick him up after school. Family travel on weekends has become the norm. But if children are driving in the car, the responsibility of the driver at the wheel increases many times over. Comfort and safety must be created for the child in the cabin. No matter how much the parents love the child, their hands do not provide this.
The European Road Convention signed by the Russian Federation clearly states that a child under 12 years old must be in a special child seat and only behind. Such a requirement was not put forward out of nowhere, even at a low speed in an accident it is impossible to keep a child in your arms, for example, crash tests on mannequins.
The chair is selected according to the weight of the child. Age, price, appearance, material do not play a special role.
There are three types of car seats for children:
• From birth;
• Weighing over 9 kg;
• Weighing more than 15 kg.
There are universal in each group, where you can adjust the weight in the middle ranges, however, they are less reliable than with a specific weight range.
The first group is designed for children up to 13 kg, they are portable, have a handle, side protection is reinforced, have three-point belts, it is important for children who are just born.
The second group is equipped with five-point belts, they have a pad for the shoulders.
The third group has headrests and armrests that are movable.
Children who are older or heavier are placed on the booster, this device adds height to the child, for better fastening with a seat belt.
Chairs for children must be according to the European standard ECE 44/03 and 44/04, domestic according to GOST R 41.44-2005, it is made on the basis of the European one. ECE classification 44/03 (44/04) means that the chair has passed the tests and certification.
Everyone has child seatsEuropean standard ISOFIX safety mount. For foreign cars, this mount is included in the basic configuration, and can be installed as an option. If there is no such system, the child seat can simply be secured with three-point seat belts.
Choosing a child seat:
• To ensure comfort for the child, the seat is selected according to the child's weight. And it is better to pick it up with the child, already knowing its weight. Then it is possible to “try on” the child in the chair;
• Standards need to be checked. This means that the model has all the necessary belts, headrests, supports, table. Orthopedically, everything is correctly cut, the material is special, breathes and absorbs moisture;
• Check if the selected seat is suitable for the seat profile, for the length of the seat belt;
• Fasten clearly according to the instructions, any overlooked little things are fraught with consequences, the baby seat is attached with its back to the direction of travel;
• It will be more convenient if the chair can be folded and stored in the trunk;
• If the price is not critical, you can choose a chair with cup holders, drawers where you can put toys, this will help prevent the child from crying and being capricious on the road;
• Before buying, you need to know the results of crash tests, safety ratings, user reviews. You should not buy from hands, since the safety period has already been worked out.
The main thing is not to forget about the safety of the child, there should be a serious approach to it, you should not save every penny, since the life, especially of children, is priceless!
