Bread maker recipes

Imagine: you wake up in the morning not by an alarm clock, but by the warm aroma of freshly baked bread coming from your kitchen. Mmmm ... Sounds tempting? Then you are ready to purchase a bread maker.

The first automatic bread makers appeared in 1980 and since then they have gradually gained popularity. Nowadays, probably, you can divide people into those who already have a bread maker and those who have not heard about it yet. A bread maker is one of the most successful and useful items in the kitchen.

And it is not surprising - for an amount of $ 100 or more, you can forget about the bakery and bakery sections of the stores and enjoy fresh delicious bread whenever you want, even in the early morning, since most bread makers have a timer with which the bread will be baked on its own for breakfast.

All bread makers work one at a time technologies... Each has a mold with a non-stick coating and a thin handle. A paddle is embedded in the bottom of the mold for mixing the dough. The ingredients are poured into a mold and it is inserted into the bread maker. Then you need to close the lid, into which there is a transparent window (from which I cannot tear myself away even after the 5th loaf). Then you set the bread maker to the desired setting (white bread, French, cereal or dough), choose the correct crust (light, medium or dark) and plug it in. The bread maker will do all the dreary work for you, from kneading to baking, so that after three and a half hours you can take out the finished loaf.

Once you have mastered the preparation of a basic loaf, which includes only flour, water, sugar, yeast, salt and milk powder, you can start baking your breads with different flours and liquids (choose from milk, juice, beer, cider or liquor), bread with adding grains, spices, nuts and seeds, fresh and dried vegetables. The bread maker will easily bake bread with fried onions, dried mushrooms or tomatoes, baked peppers, crispy bacon, smoked meat or grated cheese and herbs. Or make sweet muffins with chocolate, fruit, or berries. Just imagine the aroma of strawberry bread or mango bread ...
For best results, use "bread" flour and fast acting yeast and keep in mind that an open sachet of yeast cannot be stored for long.

Of course, the main reason for buying a bread maker is the great taste of homemade bread, but it is also important that you know what goes into your bread. Some supermarket loaves (for example, in England) contain vinegar, soy flour, E72 (e), vegetable fats, E300 agent and vitamin C - ingredients that you will not put in homemade bread.

Due to the fact that the bread does not contain artificial preservatives, it kept slightly less, only 2-3 days (although you can freeze it). Therefore, it is better to bake it when you need it - it takes about three and a half hours. Then you will always eat fresh bread, which is also more satisfying. Before cutting the freshly baked bread, leave it on the wire rack for at least 30 minutes. Store it at room temperature (it will stale instantly in the refrigerator) in a large, tightly closed paper bag.

Before the purchase bread maker think about the size of the machine you need. Bread makers, depending on the size, bake loaves from 500 grams to 1.5 kg, so choose a larger machine if you eat a lot of bread. Plus, large bread makers can usually bake both large and small loaves. The bread maker takes up quite a lot of space, so think in advance where you will store it and buy one that will fit in the space allotted to it.
Check if the bread maker you have chosen comes with detailed instructions in Russian and with a recipe book, then it will be easier for you to experiment with your loaves.
Consider if you want to add your own additives to the bread? If so, you will need the "option to add raisins" (where after the initial batch of bread the bread maker beeps and stops so you can add additives). One of the most important functions for me is making dough. If you always struggle with making yeast dough, the bread maker will take this problem away from you forever - you just pour the food into the mold and after an hour and a half you can bake pies and buns. Making your own pies is especially enjoyable when the bread maker has done all the work of making and holding the dough for you. Expensive bread makers also know how to make jam and rice - consider whether you want to pay extra for this.

Once you are addicted to homemade bread, you are guaranteed not to be able to return to the purchased one. And maybe, like me, you will be using your bread maker much more than you previously thought.

Pros of purchasing a bread maker:

  • At any time of the day or night at your home fresh and tasty bread.
  • You eat natural bread no artificial preservatives and other "manufacturing" additives.
  • You always eat the same bread which you want, not the one sold in the store today.
  • Bread makers greatly facilitate the baking process from yeast dough, which is quite painful to do manually.
  • When baking bread, you do not need to wash a large amount of dirty utensils - you just need to rinse the bread pan and everything is ready to bake a new loaf.

When baking bread, it is important not to exceed the amount of ingredients acceptable for your bread machine. All recipes were tested on a Morphy Richards bread maker, designed for 3 1/2 cups of dry food (500 g loaf). Recall that a cup of a bread machine is equal to 240 ml.
