Where to eat in Bulgaria outside the hotel

Where to eat in Bulgaria outside the hotelMany hotels in the Bulgarian resorts offer meals according to the All inclusive system. If you choose a hotel with breakfast only, you can arrange a raid on local establishments.

Bulgaria is no exception to the list of countries that offer meals on the All inclusive basis. Moreover, there are several closed-type resorts here (for example, Sunny Day, Elenite and Dyuni), where they simply do not feed differently. In all other places you have a choice - visit the hotel several times or only in the morning.

Those who have small children should choose hotels with All inclusive. So, if the child does not like some dish, you can always take another one. Suitable for All inclusive and tourists who do not monitor their money. Even if you spend all your savings on excursions, you definitely will not die of hunger.

However, despite the abundance of food, the menu in Bulgarian hotels rarely shines with variety. Also, you may simply not like the hotel food - but there will be nowhere to go. Please note that alcohol served in hotels is usually of local origin.

Bulgarian cuisine

If you refuse All inclusive and only have breakfast at the hotel, then you can visit a variety of restaurants every day: national, Balkan, oriental, Italian, Asian, Mexican. There are many establishments in the Bulgarian resorts where you will be served tasty and not very expensive.

Don't worry that you won't understand all the intricacies of local cuisine. The menus in all restaurants are offered in several languages, including Russian (although the quality of the translation is poor), and the waiters themselves often speak the great and the mighty. As a rule, a photograph of it is placed next to each dish.

Please note that portions in Bulgarian restaurants are quite large. It is often enough to take one dish for two.

What's for lunch

Most restaurants offer special lunch menus at low prices. Here you can taste traditional Bulgarian dishes - soups (chicken, fish, bean, with meatballs or offal), meat casserole moussaka, stuffed vegetables, dolma sarmi and more. On average, soups cost 1.5 - 2 €, salads and snacks - 2 - 3 €, main course - 2.5 - 4 €.

Where to eat in Bulgaria outside the hotelIf you want to dine with a national flavor, it is worth going to the Bulgarian restaurants of the mehan. They, as a rule, are made in the national style - wooden tables and benches covered with woven red and white or green tablecloths, painted earthenware, walls lined with stone and hung with objects of old rural life. A salad in a mehana will cost you 2 - 3 €, snacks - 2.5 - 3 €, meat dishes - 6 - 8 €, fish dishes - 8 - 12 € per serving.

You can also dine in fast foods, mainly located on the beaches and offering duner (shawarma), pastries, pancakes and hot dogs. For an afternoon snack, pizzerias and bistros, for example, the famous Happy chain, will do.

For dessert, you can go to a candy store (in fact, a pastry shop), where you can enjoy pastries, cakes, ice cream, Turkish delight and baklava.

What's for dinner

In the evening you can dine at the fish restaurant, which serves grilled fish, breaded or deep-fried, salads with seafood, sushi and more. A portion of fish costs 10 - 15 €, salads and snacks cost 5 - 6 €. The most famous fish restaurant in Bulgaria - Captain Cook - is located in Golden Sands.

In the evenings, establishments in many resorts offer a rich entertainment program. Depending on the restaurant, it can be a variety show, oriental dances, a national show with nestinarok dances on hot coals, folklore performances that recreate ancient Bulgarian customs, and folk songs.
