Useful tips for gardenersWhitefly, this small flying insect, if it has already started, you will find on the underside of the leaves of a diseased plant. At least three times (but not more often than once a week) you will have to spray the habitat with a solution of green soap.

When the first sign of the presence of the Colorado potato beetle on the potato plantations appears, the entire plantation should be treated with a 1% solution of Bordeaux liquid with the addition of 30 g of urea for every 10 liters of it. After a while, you can re-treat the leaves of this culture with urea. The beetle will either die completely or lose its activity. There is another way to combat this pest. If you add double superphosphate to the soil in the fall, then carefully dig up the garden (on a shovel bayonet, in large lumps, which you turn over, but do not break), in the spring you dig it up again and plant potatoes, its planting may not suffer at all from the presence of the Colorado potato beetle. And the earlier the soil is dug up in autumn, the more pests, their eggs and larvae will be on the surface of the earth. This is where the birds will destroy them.

Potatoes can turn black after you cook them, not only because you once applied mineral fertilizers to the soil. It happens that the potato variety itself contains an insufficient amount starch... Look for the reason in something else: if you allocated a part of your land plot, where the relief is low, for this culture, everything is natural, it means that the exchange of trace elements was disrupted, and now you are paying the price.

Vegetable seeds should be stored indoors, but in no way on the veranda or terrace, because it is very important that the air humidity does not exceed 12%. It is also necessary to take into account something else: cabbage seeds retain high germination for 5 years, no more; zucchini, cucumbers - from 6 to 8; lettuce, carrots - 3-4 years. The deadline has passed - buy new ones, you can no longer store the old ones.

All records of cucumber harvests were broken by Paul Large from Germany. He raised cucumber, which was almost 160 cm long and weighed over 7.5 kg. The variety of cucumber that Large preferred is not called Hercules for nothing. It was bred by breeders in Italy, it is distinguished by its yield and large fruits.

Do you want to get a kilogram or more of tubers from each potato bush? If so, the seed should be well prepared for planting. Carefully select tubers weighing at least 100 g in autumn and plant them in the light. After such a light hardening, they are perfectly preserved. Neither disease nor pests are scary. In addition, the planting material prepared in this way germinates much faster and better.

If a flower in your home greenhouse is struck by a pest such as aphids, and the leaves begin to curl and turn yellow in front of your eyes, the buds have stopped developing, take urgent action. Add the tobacco broth to warm soapy water. After this "drug" is infused, filter it and spray the plant infected with aphids. Another pest - the scale insect - is dangerous in that it is noticed even when the flowers are seriously damaged. The scale insect does not like exactly the same decoction as suggested above for combating aphids. And also the plant, which was occupied by the scale insect, can be treated with a kerosene-soap mixture.Dilute 40 g of laundry soap in 1 liter of water, add four drops of kerosene there, shake well and lubricate the affected parts of the flower with this mixture.

Plywood is not suitable for making a birdhouse. Need a board or slab. It is enough to cut the boards only on the side that the birdhouse will have on the outside. And let the inner one remain rough. Here are the optimal sizes of the birdhouse: the height from the bottom to the roof is 30-35 cm, the bottom inside the house is 14x14 cm, the diameter of the entrance is 5 cm. The thickness of the boards you use to build a house for a starling should be at least 1.5 cm.

Zucchini jam (there is such a thing) helps with diseases of the liver, heart, improves metabolism, lowers cholesterol in the body. It is prepared as follows. A kilogram of zucchini is peeled and seedless and finely chopped. A kilogram of sugar is put into a saucepan and poured into two glasses of water. There is also added lemon, previously cut into small slices. Then the pan is put on fire and after 40-45 minutes the syrup is ready. Finely chopped zucchini is dipped into it, and the vessel is again put on fire, and on a small one. As always, the foam is removed when cooking the jam. Bird feeders can be very diverse. The simplest feeder can be made from an ordinary liter glass jar. We cut a round hole in the plastic lid - a tap hole (up to 3 cm in diameter), poured more food into the jar (but no more than a third of its volume), closed the jar with a lid and tied it to a branch so that the lid with the hole was on the side. That's all.
