Kenwood KAX 700Everyone knows about the benefits of vegetables. And I, of course, know about this, but for a long time I could not find a solution to the problem for myself: how, with minimal physical effort and with the least time spent on their preparation / cooking, introduce these very vegetables into your daily diet as a basis for all their wealth, variety, low calorie content and, I must say, cheapness: zucchini, beets, carrots, kohlrabi, the same stem (stalk) of broccoli? ... As an alternative to cabbage, tomatoes (the merits of which I do not dispute).

And how can you make these healthy vegetables tasty by cooking them easily and quickly, so that you finally get rid of the painful feeling of laboriousness and time-consuming: when do you cook longer than you eat? ...
Especially if - for dinner, when there is not so much time after coming home from work, so that you can also spend it on preparing this very dinner (and then on washing and drying all used dishes and kitchen utensils).

Here is how the same spaghetti, for example, and other "pasta", which, if combined with various sauces, can be very tasty, although not so healthy and not so easy for the body (unlike vegetables (especially for dinner!)), but which are prepared very quickly and easily, including both before and after cooking ...

The solution to my problem, taking into account my requests: a minimum of physical effort and time expenditure (for everything), was a vertical spiralizer with such its main function as cutting vegetables / fruits into "spaghetti", ie. "Tapes" of different widths: 2 mm, 3 mm, 5 mm, 9 mm, 40 mm.

It was the vertical spiralizer that met all my wishes:
- no physical effort when working with him,
- quickly (very!) spirals,
- easy to clean (wash 3-4 elements),
- easy to store: compact and aesthetically pleasing (therefore, it can always be on the table "close at hand" and you do not need to hide it in the closet),
- has relatively wide possibilities (I mean the range of cone blades), although these possibilities are limited by the width of the loading tube-neck - 6.5 cm.

Kenwood FGP 203 WG was the first to catch our eye. great review Miranda.

And in this review, good news for me (as well as for many other happy owners of Kenwood kitchen machines) was given a separate line, in particular that the Kenwood KAX 700 spiralizer attachment should go on sale soon.
And as soon as it went on sale (26.04), I immediately ordered it, and it appeared with me, taking into account weekends and holidays, 4.05.

Although since February of this year, I have been using the Gemlux GL-SR-1003 spiralizer with pleasure every day (and sometimes several times for a day), with the same features as the Kenwood FGP 203 WG (which I failed to acquire): neck 6 , 5 cm, complete with 3 blades: 3 mm, 5 mm and 9 mm (there was no 40 mm), and the care is also simple, convenient, compact (good looking!), And also quickly spirals.

However, I could not refuse the Kenwood KAX 700 spiralizer attachment, so I suggest looking at it with me and trying to compare it with a vertical spiralizer, in particular with Gemlux GL-SR-1003.

* * *
A nozzle came in a colorful box, on which, by the way, there is a warning about which kitchen machines it goes without an adapter, and for which - such an adapter is needed.

Kenwood KAX 700

Just in case, the site also indicates this (and when ordering a nozzle in this online store, I was interested in the name of my machine (KENWOOD KVC5040T Chef Sense)).

So, this attachment is compatible with:
Chef / Major (models up to 2014 start with KM) - yes, but through an adapter;
KAT001ME, Sense / Sense XL - yes;
Chef / Chef XL (models after 2016 start with KVC, KVL, KCC) - yes;
kMix - yes;
Prospero no, MultiOne no.

Also on the box there are pictures with cones-blades (called "horns" according to the instructions), there are 5 of them in the complete set (about them - below).

Kenwood KAX 700

Inside, if you started to open it, there was a warranty card, as well as a check.
Kenwood KAX 700

We open further, and there is an instruction, which is given in Russian on pages 158-169 (and it's good that there is no foam).

Kenwood KAX 700

We take out and open the "shell" made of corrugated cardboard, where everything is packed in separate "bags": the nozzle body, the neck ("lid with loading tube"), the holder for the "horn" (blades-cones) and 5 "horns" (i.e. e., cone blades), packed in plastic "cone containers", which can be useful for storing the blades.

Kenwood KAX 700

Kenwood KAX 700

These are the dimensions of the nozzle body (cell width - 1 cm):

Kenwood KAX 700

It is impossible to wash the body of the nozzle (at all!), But before using it for the first time, you can (and should) wipe it with damp household napkins (I changed 2 napkins), and then wipe it dry, and this will be quite enough, since there is absolutely nothing to get dirty there; everything else can be washed, including under running water (conveniently), and in the dishwasher.

Kenwood KAX 700

Weight of the nozzle assembly 780 grams (nozzle body + holder for cone-blades + cone-blade + neck (and the weight of the nozzle-cube cutter is 1 750 g.))

This is where she now “lives” for me (the height of the kitchen drawer is 14 cm (useful “area”)), i.e. always at hand for daily and regular use (convenient!).

Kenwood KAX 700

Now let's start using it.
I did not remove the bowl (the whisk “lives” there) from the kitchen machine, but the cover must be removed to protect it from splashes.
First, I installed the nozzle body in the low-speed slot (without turning on the machine), then, as in the vertical spiralizer, I put the blade holder, behind it I put the cone-blade and put on the neck, fixing-scrolling clockwise (otherwise it will not work) ( although the instructions suggest that you first assemble the nozzle, and then install it in the socket of the machine).

Kenwood KAX 700

According to the instructions, it is recommended to spiral at a maximum of 4 speeds (but we can also reduce the speed to see what happens).

By the way!

Do not use excessive force when pushing the vegetables with the pusher!

Kenwood KAX 700

And here's another thing that draws attention:
Kenwood KAX 700

Since I spiral a lot, for example, zucchini (it turns out they can be tasty!), Then it is possible to substitute a larger bowl (or immediately a salad bowl (or a bowl with a colander)), which gives additional convenience, unlike a vertical spiralizer, the bowl of which I had to release due to its fast filling (2 medium zucchini were included) (and again, with the attachment to the machine, it turns out to wash less by 1 element (bowl)!).

So. We have 5 blades ...

Kenwood KAX 700

Kenwood KAX 700

Let's start with the one with which I began my acquaintance with the spiralizer attachment: wavy cutting blades (5th).

During their acquaintance, everything was spiraling like this:

Kenwood KAX 700

First - a wavy solid tape, and then this tape was divided into "spaghetti", which, I think, was due to the fact that I began to turn the regulator (the "start" button) from 1, 2, 3 speeds, and while the car was accelerating , the carrots came out in a solid ribbon, and at 4 speeds - already in the form of spaghetti ...

But now I'm going to try to spin at minimum speed ("min"),
and this is what happened: ribbons from an apple and from a carrot (yellow).

Kenwood KAX 700

Since the cone blades are suitable for Gemlux, I tried spiking it on the "5" blade.
It worked (as a whole).

And this is from Gemlux and using the Kenwood KAX 700 nozzle:

So, the vertical spiralizer has 1 speed with its power of 80 (70) Watt, which, of course, is enough, but, accordingly, there is no way to adjust the speed (although, probably, there is no special need).

These are the results of using other blades (the counts go by seconds), I can say that it was more convenient for me to spiral at 3 speeds (by the way, the higher the speed, the wider the outgoing tape starts to spin).

In a free-standing vertical spiralizer, it is recommended to spiral for no longer than 1 minute (enough, you just need to turn off the "start" button before attaching the next vegetable to the pusher).
As for the Kenwood machine, the instruction does not contain warnings on the limitation of the time of use, therefore, after one vegetable has been steamed, there is no need to turn off the "start" button (regulator) when replacing with another.

But if you need to change the blade, then, of course, turn off the machine.

Now we need to wash our "tools" ...

I tested it for several days, at first, out of habit, my hands reached directly to Gemlux ... then, it seems, I reconfigured to use the nozzle.

But if initially there was a question of choice and there were conditions for it, then, probably, if I had a KENWOOD kitchen machine, at the moment I would immediately purchase a nozzle (5 blades, after all), and the size is even smaller, and there is an opportunity right away spiral into any bowl ...

Kenwood KAX 700

Although I am not going to get rid of Gemlux (perhaps, it will simply move to a different address).

Conclusion: if there are no fundamental objections to the vertical spiralizer (taking into account its features in the form of the width of the loading tube (surmountable, actually)), then, in my opinion, both the spiralizer attachment for the Kenwood machine and the free-standing spiralizer cope with the tasks set: with a minimum physical effort and time (for everything) help to prepare-cook vegetables / fruits so that they can easily be included in the daily diet.

P.S. But I didn't want to sharpen it all on a regular grater (and on an unusual one too).
I wanted everything to be fast, easy and with the least possible effort (including after cooking).
Speed, convenience are a priority for me.
It is also important that vegetables are tastier due to the fact that the spirals are better saturated with sauces, spices ... And they become so tasty, edible (as in the case of ordinary Italian pasta, when it is about sauce (and only in it ( as a rule)) ... I think each of us ate "Korean-style carrots", but the main thing is the dressing sauce in which this carrot is cooked, and it is due to its such cutting that it is better saturated with this dressing.

Vegetables have definitely begun to be eaten more often (daily) and in large quantities, since, in my opinion, the spiralizer combines speed, convenience, simplicity and, as a result, deliciousness quickly and a lot ...
