5 effective home remedies for minor burns

Mcooker: best recipes About health

Let us assume that burns of all kinds, minor or severe, are unpleasant and painful. But they are one of the most common types of domestic injuries. Unpleasant burns often occur especially during cooking or baking. There are also severe burns that can be caused by direct contact with fire or a heated object. In medical terminology, burns are classified according to their severity. A first-degree burn that affects only the outer layer of the skin is considered the least severe compared to a second or third degree when it affects the deeper layers of the skin, causes blisters, or damages all layers of the skin deep inside. Third-degree burns are considered urgent and should only be treated in a hospital.

On the other hand, minor burns can be treated at home with some effective home remedies. A burn takes about two to three weeks to heal if it is properly treated from the moment of injury.

Here are some home remedies to treat mild burns, reduce pain, prevent infections, and heal your skin quickly.

1. Cold water and compress

The main first aid after any minor burn is to spray cool water on the burn area for about 15-20 minutes and then wash the affected area with mild soap and water. Apply the ointment after you go through this step. For more relief, prepare a cold compress with a clean, damp cloth and place it over the burn area. It can help relieve pain and swelling. Apply it to the affected area for 10 to 15 minutes. Never use ice water on burns. Ice or cold water can restrict blood flow to the skin and cause further tissue damage.

2. Aloe vera

Yet another addition to the long list of aloe vera benefits. It can also be used to treat first degree burns. The antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties of aloe vera make it an excellent healing agent. It also promotes blood circulation around the burn, which further restricts the growth of bacteria in that area, thereby preventing any chance of infection. For best results, apply a layer of pure aloe gel taken from the leaves of this plant to the affected area. If you are using store-bought aloe vera products, make sure they contain adequate amounts.

3. Honey

Honey, with its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties, can also help heal minor burns. Take a cotton swab or towel, dip it in a teaspoon of honey and apply it gently to the affected area for effective results.

4. Coconut oil

One of the traditional remedies for burns, as coconut oil contains vitamin E. Vitamin E not only heals burns, but also heals the skin. To get rid of a burn scar on your skin, you can mix half a teaspoon of lemon juice with a teaspoon of coconut oil and apply it to the affected area. The acidic properties present in lemon juice will help lighten the scar. Coconut oil also has antifungal properties and can further prevent any infection from a burn.

5. Vinegar

The healing properties of acetic acid can help relieve pain, itching, and inflammation that comes with a burn. The vinegar will also draw out the heat from the burn, thus relieving pain naturally. Take a cotton swab, dip it in a teaspoon of vinegar, and gently apply it to the burned area for the desired effect.

As the saying goes, prevention is better than cure, so always take extra care if you are performing a task that could result in a serious burn. If the pain from the burn is too great, it is recommended to urgently go to the hospital. For lighter burns that we often get in the kitchen, use these home remedies.
